In TechKnow children gets to Learn\, code and share interests related to technology. And yes\, it is by the students\, for the students. \nTechKnow\, largest tech event for schools organised by\, Cyber Crew\, computer club of our school was thrown open today on 11 Sep\, 2017. The tech event aims at providing a clear view of the opportunities and challenges of an increasingly connected world to students. \nThe vent began with the welcome speech of Zayan Rouf and Barin Shah who welcomed the participating schools and Muazam Khurshid and Tauseef Shah briefed the students about the five different workshops to be conducted in two days of workshop. Glimpses of previous techno events were shown to the participating schools. Vice Principal Ms. Shafaq Afshan welcomed the participating students of different schools. \nFor students interested in tech\, these kinds of events are an excellent way to get up to speed on the latest developments\, find great new services\, and get hands on training in one of the areas of his/her interest — plus\, you never know how social connections will be established. \nDay 1 of the event was attended by energetic and enthusiastic students from more than 30 leading schools from all over the state. Around 430 students from Classes 6th to 12th are being imparted hands-on training in 5 different areas of technology consisting of Web Development\, GFX & VFX\, Quadcopter Development\, Robotics and Hybrid App Development. \nThe event workshops are being conducted by Cyber Crew members with their insatiable desire of learning by sharing with similar minds. \nThe event started with screening of 45-minute documentary on the Future of Technology. This was followed by day long workshops. The workshops commenced and the participants showcased great exuberance with the student speakers being indistinguishable and competent. Similar to the first day\, five workshops were held where the participants keenly took part in the learning experience. The participants’ feedback unfolded the significance of the two day Tech-Fest\, indicating the success of the event. In robotics\, the assemblage and working of the Quad-Copter was explained and showed to the participants. In addition the web development workshop was of great interest as the participants learned concepts behind developing creative internet platforms like Sarahah with is quite popular among teens. The event concluded with the quiz. \nThe day 2 concluded with a quiz in which goodies were distributed to the participants who answered the questions with full enthusiasm. The principal gave a speech wherein he highlighted the importance of Technology and also congratulated CyberCrew for organizing the event. The youngsters entered the atrium boldly holding their luggage and bidding good bye to their parents. \nThe tiny Tots wing brimmed with the activities with students opting to participate with great excitement and joy. Then they proceeded towards the atrium to draw and depict their best moments at the camp. \nThe overnight camp concluded with an assembly-children sang songs\, performed traditional dance “Rouf”\, spoke about what the liked at the camp. \nIt was a real life experience for all the kids of class 2nd who experienced staying away from home with the friends and teachers. The environment was so energetic that all the students were completely engrossed and did all the tasks enthusiastically. Children went on by exploring their creative skills. Though inclement weather forced the shifting of the venue\, but the event could be seen awash with children going all out to making it more fun and enjoyable. \nA brilliant show\, this year had a lot of amusing additions on previous years to make it even livelier and fun filled. The event got underway with a prayer song; the Kashmiri version of “lap pa aati hai dua ban kay tamana meri” to call upon God almighty to show me the righteous path. \nFollowing the prayer song were lined up a number of activities and programmes such as Mass P.T\, dumb bells\, lezim and yoga.  The aforesaid programmes had audience completely awestruck. In addition the  Gujrati folk dance ‘dandiya’ had audience taping their feet to the accompanied music.. Kashmiri Rouf and other regional folk dances of J&k such as Dogri\, Ladhaki was a rich reminder of Kashmiri culture. The event was graced by The Chairman Mr.Vijay Dhar and The principal Ms. Kusum Warikoo who were all praise for the show. The event was formally thrown open by the Principal Kusum Warikoo who spoke at length on the necessity of preserving time honoured traditions of our culture. Participants from across the valley registered their presence. The sheer magnitude and quality of musical talent inherent in our young children was evident to one and all. The importance of providing exposure to such a luminous galaxy of talent was immensely perceived\, and the role of DPS Srinagar in taking the initiative was applauded by one and all.\n\nShreen Saaz is a Inter Valley Koshur Music Competition which shall witness participation of school children across the length and breadth of valley. The festival incorporated a wide variety of food stalls of tasty delicacies and authentic mouth watering cuisines of various regions. Bal mela proved to bring out the best in children for the amount of time and hard work was put in. This year bal mela also managed to display an effort of charity for the patients of leprosy in the valley. It is an exhilarating time for LKG kids as they got an opportunity to stay in the school and bond with their peers and teachers. \nHats off to the 125 girls and guys who walked in with a spring in their feet and a smile on their face with their tiny suitcase filled to participate in their first ever camp today\, leaving their teary eyed parents behind. \nSo\, Here We Go! \nDAY 2\n8:30 am –  Group Photos\, Activity & See Off\nAfter a hearty breakfast\, our bonny gals and guys\, gave their best shot when they posed for a group photo. They then proceeded towards the Atrium to draw and depict their best moments at the camp. \nTime vanished like a jiffy and it was time to say adieu. \nThe overnight camp ended with the assembly- children sang songs; spoke about what they liked at the camp. \nParents were indeed surprised to see that their kids had stayed away from them without hardly any fuss. More than 200 participants from across the valley registered and interacted with their counterparts on the festival. Students from the DPS fraternity including DPS Budgam\, Baramulla\, Anantnag and Rajouri attended the festival. The festival also attracted students from other schools both within and outside the city. Schools like Doon Public School\, Linton Hall School\, Delhi Modern Public School\, Srinagar International School and Sanctorum Public School Sopore also recorded their presence. \nThe participants were provided training in specially designed workshops held on six different technologies: Web Designing\, Graphic Designing & Visual Effects\, Open Source & Linux\, Networking & Ethical Hacking\, Video Editing & Animation and PHP Programming. The workshops received unanimous appreciation and approval by the participants. Each workshop was perceived to be the right blend of fun and learning. The fest aims at providing a clear view of the opportunities and challenges of an increasingly connected world to students. \nFor students interested in tech\, these kinds of events are an excellent way to get up to speed on the latest developments\, find great new services\, and get hands on training in one of the areas of his/her interest — plus\, you never know how social connections will be established. \nThe 2-day event was inaugurated by the Chairperson Mrs. Kiran Dhar and was attended by energetic and enthusiastic students from more than 15 leading schools from the valley. Around 200 students from Classes 6th to 12th were imparted hands-on training in 5 different areas of technology consisting of Graphics & Video Editing\, Web Designing\, Linux & Open Source\, Hardware & Networking; and PHP programming. \nThe event workshops were conducted by Cyber Crew members with their insatiable desire of learning by sharing with similar minds. \nThe event started with screening of 45-minute documentary on the Future of Technology. This was followed by day long workshops. Graphics & Video editing lab was a huge rush among the tech savvy students. Students were introduced to layout and vector art application\, CorelDraw; photo retouching and bitmap image editing software\, PhotoShop & video editing and special effects softwares\, Pinnacle Studio & Adobe After Effects. The 2-day long graphics & video editing workshop concluded with an exhibition of student work ranging from book & magazine covers to commercial advertisements to tiny video projects. \nWeb designing workshop was another attraction in the event. Students were curious to get hands-on training on the hottest technology of today and the technology to rule our lives in future. Mufti Arfan\, Grade 11th student\, conducted the 2-day workshop which covered industry best practices in designing and developing professional websites and web apps. Students were introduced to standards complaint HTML & CSS. Javascript and server configuration was covered on second day of the workshop. \nLinux & Open Source workshop covered the basics of Linux OS as a secure and cost effective replacement of Windows OS and a must-have tool for budding technocrats. Cyber Crew speakers presented some inspirational slides on the philosophy and idea behind Open Source and how it can be beneficial to students. In order to reach out the less privileged students of our society\, Cyber Crew is planning few outdoor workshops at various schools under its outreach programme. Two judges from Delhi namely Mr. Kakkad and Mr.Sanjiv judged the work of the beautiful hands. The first prize was bagged by Fatima Abheer from class XII\, second by Ifla Shah from class XI and third by Fanoos from class VIII. The rest of the thirteen students namely Hadiqa Tariq\, Malik Irtiza\, Zoya Zaffar\, Ahamar Hassen\, Ifra Zainab\, Syed Basharat Ali\, Hurain Masoodi\, Kashaf-ul-Khair\, Mohd.Manan Khan\, MIsbah\, Sheena Kour\, Tauseef Ahmad and Aisha Khan were presented the consolation prize from the Department of Tourism. \nMusic\nNineteen students namely Basit\, Seerat\, Khansa\, Mehvish\, Hujat\, Manan\, Shahran from class XII; Khytul\, Duha\, Suhaib\, Jibran from class XI; Saqob from class X; Rohan\, Anha\, Hammad from class IX; Noreen\, Asna from class VIII; and Tabish\, Bisma from class VII; were also given an opportunity to perform in the open. For Hindus\, it also marks the beginning of a new year. \n Class X A presented a special assembly on this festival of lights. .The students spoke about the festival of Diwali . Kunwarpreet\, Rehana\, Tasleema and Rukhsar delivered speeches highlighting the significance of Diwali and its relevance in our daily lives. All of them spoke about the relevance of this festival in our day to day lives. There were comic plays by both grade X “Eent Ka Jawaab Pathar Se”  and IX  :”Beemar ka Haal”.In obeisance to lord Ganesha\, Ganesh vandana was also recited. A beautiful song ‘Ramchandra Ji Ghar Aaye’ was sung by the school choir . This spoke of how he lived without his wife Sita during his 14 years of exile.A dance performance was also given by the girls of class X. Sabir and Keerti were the master comperes of  the show and kept the atmosphere lively by cracking some jokes in between.The students had a great time practicing and performing the show! The event was organized by Cyber Crew\, the IT Club of DPS Srinagar. The two day event was inaugurated and thrown open by the Principal\, Ms. Kusam Warikoo. She addressed the students and welcomed all the participating schools. The event was divided into 6 different workshops\, 5 catering to the students and 1 for the accompanying teachers. Workshops for the students included Video Editing\, Web Designing\, Networking\, Graphic Designing and Open Source Technology. A workshop on PHP (Programming Language) was conducted for the teachers. Mr. Bilal and our IT students conducted all these workshops. At the end of this two day Session\, an IT quiz was held for the visiting schools only and the winners grabbed some goodies as well. Event Coordinator\, Mr. Irshad ul Islam gave away the merit cum participation certificates to the participants. Both the days had a lunch and tea hosted by our school for all the participating schools. The Participants\, both from the host and the visiting schools were thrilled to attend this workshop as it was the first of its kind in the history of the valley. ”This two day event should have been for a week”;”We look forward to attend such sessions more often at DPS” were some of the comments given by the guests. It was held in the playground of our school. Our Principal\, Ms Kusam Warikoo was the chief guest. \nThe whole playground had been decorated with flags\, buntings and balloons a day earlier. \nThe sports day began with a welcome speech by the Incharge of the Junior Wings\, Ms Yousra followed by the March past by class V students. \nThe chief guest took the salute and then the oath ceremony was held. The event was followed by the hoisting of the flag by our esteemed chairman\, Mr Vijay Dhar who declared the sports meet open. \nLater a melodious song was sung by a group of students and then an entertaining umbrella dance by class IV students was performed. After that the class III students participated in 100 mtr race\, filling the bucket and three legged race. The children who stood first were given medals. \nYoga and Formation of pyramids by class III students. Drill of dumb bells was done by class IV students followed by 100\, 200\, relay race and tug of war by the same class. The students were given the medals accordingly. \nAfter that class V 100 meter\, relay race and hurdles were done\, followed by the medal ceremony of the events. \nPopular House was declared the best house. An eye soothing ketchup dance was performed by the class V students.
