GM Malik (PGT Mathematics, Senior Wing) attended a three-day workshop titled “CONSOLIDATING MATHEMATICS” at DPSS-HRD centre, Dwarka from 11-13 April, 2018. The workshop was inaugurated in the presence of Prof. Amitabh Tripathi (IIT Dehli), Prof. A. K. Rajput (head, Dept. of Elementary education and Expertise-Mathematics NCERT) and Mr. Harish Sachdeva (Director of DPSS HRD). The workshop focused on honing and delineating various pedagogical tools employed in the teaching of mathematics to make it more relevant and appropriate to current times. The workshop focused on addressing the aim of activity based learning process, laying major emphasis on how to inculcate the math’s activities into our daily teaching practice, and foster class room teaching that emphasizes on hands on experience, accuracy and clear thinking.
Various sessions had been chalked out to meet this end. They included ‘Understanding Mathematics through Geometrical Aids’ which included informative discussions and deliberations on many challenging topics including difference between a circle and area of circle, concept of dimensions, Model of Conic Section, Model of Octants. The resource persons appreciated the interventions and suggestions offered by the participant teacher.
