Group Discussion

A group discussion is a group of individuals, gathered at one place in the form of a circle with similar interest to share the ideas, solve problems or give comments. In simple terms, a group discussion is well known as GD. Generally, the group discussions are performed to assess the skill set of a person which includes communication skills, leadership skills, managing skills, team building skills, social skills, problem-solving skill and presence of mind.

The activity (Group Discussion) is chosen for all the classes from 3rd – 12th, as Group-Discussion gives everyone involved a voice. The students will be allowed to express and discuss a variety of ideas.

The main objectives of group discussion are:

• It will encourage the students who might normally be reluctant to speak their minds.
• Help to open communication channels among students who might not communicate in any other way and will improve their ability to think critically.
• Helps to produce a range of options or solutions when addressing to any issue or problem.
• Helps the students to express their views in clear manner.
• It is effective means of changing attitudes through the influence of other students in the group.
• It gives the students an opportunity to hear the opinions of other students and put across their view point.
• The students will see things from different perspectives and will enhance their confidence in speaking.
