Global Beats: A Cultural Potpourri Celebrated at Delhi Public School Srinagar
Delhi Public School Srinagar organised a cultural event ‘Global Beats’ on 11th October, 2024 wherein the students of class 5 performed and presented a potpourri of cultures across the world .The ambience show cased the theme which is ‘global cultural diversity’. The event that saw fervent enthusiasm with its meticulous details was attended by school officials and guests. It was also marked with the mass participation of parents. The event was celebrated to observe global unity and diversity.
The programme commenced with a heart-touching prayer by the students of DPS. It was followed by splendid performances by students who represented diverse cultures of countries including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Italy, Africa, Iran, Brazil, Japan, Russia and India.
‘Global Beats’ stressed on the need of cultural exchange, with the performers gleefully embracing the role of different countries. The artefacts adorning each display was carefully crafted to offer a comprehensive immersion into the traditions and customs of nations near and far. As visitors meandered through the vibrant displays, they were greeted with a kaleidoscope of sights, sounds, and flavours from around the world. The students stood confidently beside their respective spots, eager to share their new found knowledge and passion for diverse cultures with peers, teachers, and guests alike. The air resonated with energy as traditional melodies intertwined with animated vibes in a symphony of global harmony. There was a new discovery waiting to be made—a testament to the boundless creativity and dedication of young minds determined to bridge continents through shared experiences. Beyond the tangible displays, ‘Global Beats’ was a platform for fostering cultural appreciation and understanding among students.
During the preparations for the event students got the opportunity to have detailed know-how of the countries, through interactive activities, engaging presentations, and hands-on experiences, participants not only learned about foreign cultures and languages but also gained a deeper understanding of the country. It was a transformative journey that transcended geographical boundaries and nurtured a sense of global citizenship among all of those who attended. Concluding the event, the Principal Ms Shafaq Ashfaq expressed her gratitude to contributors and participants. She further said that events like ‘Global Beats’ can help in holistic growth and development of students. She also lauded the efforts of teachers and supporting staff, and added that extra-curricular activities should complement the academic education and prepare students for real life challenges and early exposure to the global environment.
