“Breaking the Silence” – Mental Health Advocates visit DPS Srinagar
On 2nd May 2025, Delhi Public School, Srinagar, hosted a powerful session on mental health awareness in the Senior Auditorium for students of Classes 11 and 12. The event welcomed a team of travellers and activists from the nationwide campaign Breaking Stigma One Mile at a Time, whose aim is to open honest conversations around mental well-being.
The session was thoughtfully anchored by student council members Abdullah bin Zubair and Falak Fayaz, who guided the programme with clarity. The visiting team included Seher Hashmi, Dev Desai, Samanyu Shukla, Nazneen Shaikh, and Mehraj Udin Bhat, sharing personal stories of resilience, creativity, and healing. Their words invited students to listen, reflect, and reconsider how mental health is seen and spoken about.
A key part of the session was an open Q&A, where students asked thoughtful questions, seeking insights on emotional well-being, mental health, and the values that guide school life. Pamphlets were distributed to continue the conversation beyond the event. As the visit drew to a close, the guests presented a token of appreciation to the school—a gesture that captured the spirit of gratitude and connection.
More than a gathering, this was a quiet turning point—a reminder that within school walls, space must be made not just for learning, but for listening. The session left behind a lasting message: mental health is not a stigma, but a shared human journey.
