A Trek to Hariparbat (Grade IV)
On the bright morning of 19th June 2025, the students of Class IV, Delhi Public School, Srinagar embarked on an adventurous day trek to Hariparbat, a prominent hill in Srinagar. The trek was organised as part of the school’s outdoor activities to help children connect with nature, explore history, and experience adventure.
The day began with great enthusiasm as students assembled in their classrooms before boarding buses to Badamwari, the base of the hill. Upon arrival, teachers conducted a short briefing on safety measures and the importance of staying together as a group. The ascent to Hariparbat, also known as Koh-i-Maran, began soon after. The hill is known for its Mughal Fort and offers panoramic views of Srinagar city. Though the trail was steep in some sections, the students displayed excellent teamwork—walking in pairs and supporting one another.
Once at the top, the children witnessed breathtaking views of Dal Lake and the surrounding landscape. After exploring the fort and the sacred Sharika Devi temple, the group had lunch on the grassy slopes. In line with the school’s commitment to environmental awareness, students actively took part in the “Go Green, Go Clean” initiative by collecting litter and using dustbins responsibly. The descent began at 12:10 PM, and by 12:40 PM, the group had safely returned to the base and proceeded back to school by bus. Despite the physical effort and hot weather, the students completed the trek successfully with the support of their teachers and peers.
The Hariparbat trek was a truly enriching experience—blending adventure, learning, and fun—leaving students with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for nature and heritage.
