DPS Srinagar Strikes a High Note, Wins “Best Cultural Award” at Fakhr-e-Taalem Event

The Music Department of Delhi Public School, Srinagar, has once again filled the halls with pride, delivering a show-stopping performance and securing the Best Cultural Award at the prestigious “Fakhr-e-Taalem” Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony. The grand event, hosted by the FAP India Schools Trust, took place on October 5th, 2025, at the Country Side Hotel in Srinagar.

Our student musicians captivated the audience with a multifaceted performance, featuring a mesmerizing orchestra and a soulful rendition of a Kashmiri Sufi song, “Kalam-e-Rehman Dar.” The beautiful composition left a lasting impression on all attendees and was the undisputed highlight of the evening.

The excellence of the performance was immediately recognized. The Chairman of FAP India Schools Trust, Mr. G. N. War, presented a special trophy to the school in appreciation. To top off an already wonderful evening, DPS Srinagar was then awarded the night’s top honor, the Best Cultural Award for its outstanding musical presentation.

This remarkable feat was the result of incredible teamwork and dedication skillfully guided by the music department’s mentors, Mr. Arshid Hussain and Mr. Maqbool. The discipline and passion of the performing team were praised by all. The talented ensemble included:

  • Vocalists: Syed Meeran Geelani, Zoya Khalid, Haziq Mohammad Khan, Hashir Majid, Dua Shazli, and Arwa Amin
  • Guitars: Famal Fatima Khan (Electric), Hamzah Sadut Mir, Hibba, Arham Viqar, Hamzah Bin Junaid, Mohammad Bin Javaid, Ziyan, and Mohd Ehaan (Acoustic)
  • Keyboards: Afaan Wakeel, Hamza Majid, and Khalid
  • Percussion: Mohd Bakhtiyar (Congo), Usman (Congo), and Mohd Maqbool (Tabla)
  • Traditional Instruments: Choudhry Mohammad Aariz (Rabab)

Principal, Ms. Shafaq Afshan, expressed her delight, stating, “Our students have beautifully showcased the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir with immense professionalism. This award is a testament to their talent and the brilliant guidance of our music department.”

Chairman, Mr. Vijay Dhar, added, “We are incredibly proud. Their performance was not just music; it was a display of culture, discipline, and unity. Heartiest congratulations to every student and teacher involved for bringing such honour to the school.”
