Camaraderie Under the Stars: Young Learners Shine at Overnight Camp
DPS Srinagar takes immense pride in celebrating the remarkable success of its Grade V Overnight Camp, held on the 6th and 7th of August 2025. Designed as a joyful blend of fun, relaxation, and learning in a safe and nurturing environment, the camp offered young students an opportunity to explore, create, and connect beyond the classroom with memories certain to last a lifetime.
The day began on a serene note, with a heartfelt morning prayer that set a tone of gratitude and positivity. A spirited welcome song by the teachers, brimming with enthusiasm, sparked laughter and broke the ice, creating an atmosphere of warmth and togetherness among the young campers.
The morning unfolded with a lively house-wise singing competition, where students showcased their musical talent, teamwork, and school spirit. This was followed by an engaging fireless cooking activity, in which imaginative dishes were prepared and proudly presented to the teachers—an exercise that blended creativity, skill, and confidence.
Artistic expression took center stage in the art session, where campers crafted tiaras, bow bracelets, flags, and curdling ribbons. Guided instruction was seamlessly paired with personal creativity, allowing each student’s unique style to shine.
After a delicious lunch, the much-anticipated swimming session brought waves of excitement and relaxation, followed by a lively afternoon of class-wise games, including Kho-Kho, Lemon & Spoon Race, Guess the Person, and the Penguin Waddle Race. These activities promoted healthy competition, teamwork, and plenty of joyful laughter.
As dusk descended, the camp’s highlight, a glowing campfire, was lit by our esteemed Principal, Ms. Shafaq Afshan. Against the backdrop of a starlit sky, students and teachers gathered around the dancing flames, singing, dancing, and sharing stories in a heartwarming celebration of unity. The night concluded with a hearty dinner and the sweet delight of ice cream.
The following morning began with a refreshing nature walk and light exercises amidst the calm of the outdoors, giving students a chance to reflect on their experiences and new friendships before returning home.
Chairman Mr. Vijay Dhar praised the initiative, stating, “The Grade V camp reflects our vision of holistic education where joy, learning, and values merge to create well-rounded individuals.”
Principal Ms. Shafaq Afshan added, “Watching our young students thrive in such a vibrant setting reaffirms the power of experiential learning and the special spirit of DPS Srinagar.”
The DPS Srinagar family looks forward to hosting many more such transformative experiences in the years ahead.
