The overnight camp for DPS Srinagar Grade 4 students was held on May 31, 2024, and June 1, 2024. The camp was a holistic and enriching experience, offering a welcome break from routine while imparting valuable life lessons. It commenced with a serene prayer led by the teachers, setting a peaceful and spiritual tone for the day. This was followed by a warm welcome song and a fusion of entertaining music, fostering unity and enthusiasm among the participants. An early art activity allowed students to explore their artistic potential, resulting in a sense of accomplishment as they transformed pieces of cloth into adorable stuffed pillows.

This activity was followed by a “Mural Art Activity” where children showed their creativity by coloring and drawing underwater scenes on the floor.

As they fueled themselves with refreshments and lunch, the campers not only nourished their bodies but also forged connections with their peers, laying the foundation for lasting friendships. Throughout the day, they engaged in a series of games planned by their respective HRTs, which encouraged teamwork, strategy, and healthy competition. These activities promoted physical fitness and taught important life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance. The swimming sessions provided a refreshing break from the sun’s heat and offered students an opportunity to conquer their fears and improve their swimming abilities.

Gathering around the nighttime bonfire, with songs echoing and laughter filling the air, cultivated a warm and inviting ambiance. It provided a space for students of diverse backgrounds to bond and form a tight-knit community. Beyond dinner, the joyous atmosphere persisted, with games and songs fostering connections between both students and teachers. This shared experience nurtured affection, trust, and mutual understanding. As the night unfolded, friendships blossomed, and cherished memories were etched through shared laughter and playful activities.

The campers found solace and renewal in a serene morning walk, accompanied by muscle-relaxing exercises as the sun painted the sky with dawn’s light. These activities weren’t mere routines; they underscored the importance of physical well-being and a harmonious relationship with nature. Departing, the students carried more than their belongings; they carried a sense of self-awareness, a deepened respect for their peers, and a treasure trove of cherished memories, ensuring they left revitalized and enriched by their experiences.
