Junior Cricket Championship commences successfully
The much awaited Junior Cricket Championship jointly organized by Delhi Public School, Srinagar and Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council commenced on 1stApril, 2017 and the event experienced quite an impressive start. Despite rain hampering the game, the organizers did not give up hope and conducted matches at all the venues on the two consecutive days that is on 1st and 2nd of April. Today, on the second consecutive day, the block level matches were held in 13 blocks of 5 districts.
A total of 144 matches were played simultaneously during the two days in about 9 districts of Kashmir valley. The event experienced a grand participation of 288 teams of different schools from various districts of the valley. A huge participation of around 4320 cricket players was witnessed competing against each other. The cricket matches were played at around 45 venues simultaneously. The enthusiasm and eagerness of the participants and the undefeated dedication of the organizers led to a successful start of the championship. The semi final round will be held tomorrow for the qualifying teams in 8 districts of the valley.
