Fun Friday: A Chest Full of Stories
On 16th May 2025, the LRC Department of Delhi Public School organized an engaging and meaningful ‘Fun Friday’ event that left a lasting impression on students and staff alike. As part of this special day, the teachers presented an original and thought-provoking play titled “A Chest Full of Stories,” focusing on the impact of social media on our lives.A teacher walked on stage carrying a mysterious pitara (chest). When the chest was opened, it revealed a mobile phone, which served as a gateway to various social media platforms. One by one, apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube emerged from the phone, each portrayed as a character with its own voice and personality. Through lively interactions, each app shared how it plays a role in shaping our daily lives. While highlighting the benefits—such as connecting with others, sharing knowledge, and encouraging creativity—the play also addressed the drawbacks, including addiction, misinformation, comparison, and emotional fatigue.
The performance offered a balanced and realistic view of social media use, encouraging the audience to reflect on their own digital habits. The message was clear: social media is a powerful tool, but it must be used wisely and mindfully.
“A Chest Full of Stories” successfully combined creativity with a powerful social message. The students were thoroughly engaged, with many relating to the situations shown on stage. The play sparked meaningful discussions and inspired the audience to think critically about how social media affects their lives.
This Fun Friday event was a perfect example of how learning can be interactive, reflective, and enjoyable, thanks to the innovative efforts of the LRC Department.
