Senior students participated in a crucial awareness session today, led by the SDPO, SHO, and other officials from the Panthachowk Police Station. The discussion focused on India’s recently enacted criminal laws and the important topic of juvenile accountability.

The officers provided a clear overview of the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), 2023. They explained that these laws are designed to create a more modern, efficient, and victim-centric justice system.

A significant part of the session was dedicated to the Juvenile Justice Act. The officials detailed the legal procedures for cases involving minors, stressing the serious consequences of criminal activity. They also highlighted the law’s focus on rehabilitation and reform over simple punishment.

The session was highly interactive, with students asking sharp questions on relevant issues like cybercrime, substance abuse, and their rights and responsibilities. The officers used practical, real-world examples to clarify complex legal topics, making the information both accessible and memorable.

This event successfully opened a dialogue between students and law enforcement, helping to demystify police procedures and build a foundation of community trust.
