DPS organizes free two-day medical camp in collaboration with Medanta Hospital
Day 01
Delhi Public School Srinagar, in collaboration with Medanta – the Medicity, Gurugram organized the first day of a free multispecialty medical camp today on 14th October 2017. The camp has been organized in keeping with the corporate social responsibility of both institutions. DPS Srinagar has always strived to contribute towards creating a better society, and this medical camp is a similar attempt to better the health of the valley. The day witnessed a heavy rush of patients as nine senior and renowned doctors dispensed their valued advice across six disciplines vis Radiation Oncology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Nephrology, Cardiology and Internal Medicine. More than 400 patients were seen over 54 hours by the tireless doctors.
The camp has been organized with the sole aim of making available quality Medicare from one of the best hospitals of the country to the valleyites. The Pro Vice Chairman Mr. Vijay Dhar has expressed hope that the camp will set a precedent in establishing meaningful corroborations that will ensure a sustainable medical care system in the valley. Speaking to the school, Dr. Karanjit Singh – Associate Director Neurosurgery Department said the camp strives not only to treat, but also to create awareness among patients about the advances in medical technology and diverse treatment options available to them. Besides, the hospital will also try to extend and arrange financial assistance to the patients who can’t avail treatment due to lack of resources. He also spoke glowingly of the school’s sustained efforts to arrange affordable healthcare to the valleyites. Speaking to the school reporter, a patient Ghulam Mohamad of Fateh Kadal appreciated the dedication and concern of the consultant. “Dr. Tijender examined me at great detail, and spent a lot of time educating me about my ailment. She also promised to try to arrange a discount for me at the hospital for my surgery.” The patients examined expressed their gratitude and appreciation at the camp, and lauded the efforts of the school.
Day 02
The two day free multispecialty camp held at Delhi Public School Srinagar, in collaboration with Medanta – the Medicity, Gurugram concluded today. This medical camp represented an attempt to better the health of the valley. The camp witnessed a heavy rush of patients as nine senior as renowned doctors dispensed their valued advice across six disciplines vis Radiation Oncology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Nephrology, Cardiology and Internal Medicine. More than 2000 patients were examined over 100 hours by the tireless doctors.

The hospital had brought a mobile diagnostic van where patients were investigated by using latest technologies for investigations like Mamography, Echo, X rays. These treatments are usually quite costly but the patients availed of them without any cost. Dr Singh praised the tireless efforts of the school to arrange affordable healthcare to the valleyites. Speaking to the school reporter, a patient Mohamad Yousuf of Balhaman praised the camp in these words: “I am a poor man and have been moving from pillar to post here to get treatment for my painful knee. The doctor not only examined me at great detail, but also educated me about exercises I need to perform. How could a poor man like me have availed services of such a quality doctor?” The patients examined expressed their gratitude and appreciation at the camp, and lauded the efforts of the school. The school also expresses its gratitude to Medanta Hopsital for making the camp possible.
