DPS Srinagar Hosts a Successful Edition of DPSMUN 2025
The Delhi Public School Model United Nations (DPSMUN) 2025 concluded successfully on 19th October after two days of intense debate, diplomacy, and deliberation. The annual conference, hosted by Delhi Public School, Srinagar, brought together over 200 delegates from schools across the valley, marking yet another milestone in the school’s mission to foster global awareness and leadership among its students.
Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations where students, acting as diplomats, engage in discussions, negotiations, and problem-solving on pressing international and regional issues. It provides young participants with a platform to hone skills in research, communication, teamwork, and diplomacy, preparing them to think critically and act responsibly in an increasingly interconnected world.
This year’s conference featured six intellectually stimulating committees: the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW), International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), Lok Sabha, Jammu & Kashmir Political Parties Meet (JKPPM), and the AI Advisory Board. Each committee deliberated on contemporary issues, from humanitarian crises and gender equality to artificial intelligence governance and local political discourse, encouraging delegates to craft well-reasoned and collaborative solutions.
The event witnessed spirited debates, strong arguments, and moments of true diplomacy as delegates represented their countries, parties, and organisations with passion and insight. Guided by an experienced Executive Board and a dedicated Secretariat, DPSMUN 2025 successfully recreated the environment of international dialogue and decision-making.
The Closing Ceremony celebrated the achievements of participants, with awards presented to Best Delegates, High Commendations, and Special Mentions across all committees. Members of the Executive Board and Secretariat were also felicitated for their exemplary leadership, commitment, and contribution to the smooth execution of the event.
Principal Ms Shafaq Afshan congratulated the participants and organisers, applauding their enthusiasm, intellect, and professionalism. She emphasised that DPSMUN continues to serve as a cornerstone of holistic education at DPS Srinagar — nurturing confidence, critical thinking, and empathy among students. Ms Arusa Rasool, Academic In-Charge (Senior Wing), expressed pride in the dedication and coordination displayed by the Secretariat and Organising Committee, commending their efforts in bringing together a conference of such scale and excellence.
Mr. Vijay Dhar, Chairman DPS Srinagar, lauded the initiative, remarking, “Platforms like DPSMUN empower young minds to engage meaningfully with the world’s most pressing challenges and envision solutions rooted in empathy and understanding. I commend the school community for sustaining this remarkable legacy — a space where intellect truly meets purpose.”
With its blend of intellect, collaboration, and youthful passion, DPSMUN 2025 stood as a testament to the power of student-led initiatives and the school’s enduring commitment to shaping informed, responsible, and globally aware citizens.
