Dramatic Encounters: A Journey into Literary Minds at ‘Authors Meet the English Faculty’

03-05-23

On the 3rd of May, the “Authors Meet the English Faculty” activity was held in the library. It was a conference-style interaction, wherein several students of classes IX to XII took on the persona and guise of various authors of significance throughout history. Honorable mentions were William Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Robert Frost, Charles Dickens, Sylvia Plath, Mitch Albom, Harper Lee, Sudha Murty and Joanna Kathleen Rowling.

The students discussed their works with the English faculty in front of an audience of avid readers. Both sides asked questions and challenged each other’s views on how these classic works were taught. Queries were also taken from the audience, and the esteemed authors had to think on their feet to answer appropriately.

It was a highly educational activity for all those involved. The students learnt to ask and answer impromptu questions and gained knowledge of their assigned writer’s works and themes. And of course, the costumes were a feast for the eyes of all those present.
