On the 9th of April 2024, Delhi Public School, Srinagar, meticulously organized an orientation program aimed at welcoming and acquainting the new set of parents with the school’s ethos, curriculum, regulations, pedagogical approaches, and extracurricular activities. The event commenced with a warm welcome speech delivered by Ms Shafaq Afshan, the esteemed principal of Delhi Public School Srinagar, extending a heartfelt welcome to the parents as they embarked on a new academic journey with the institution.

Ms Shafaq underscored the paramount importance of fostering effective communication channels between parents and teachers, stressing the significance of a robust partnership between the school and its stakeholders. Following the principal’s address, the parents were introduced to the respective incharges and class teachers, ensuring a personalized and inclusive welcome according to their wards’ sections.

Subsequently, Ms. Radifa, the academic incharge, provided a comprehensive overview of the school’s rules and regulations, while also familiarizing the parents with essential communication tools such as the Campus Manager and Google Classroom. Emphasizing the holistic development of every child, Ms Radifa offered invaluable insights into effective parenting, advocating for nurturing children with love and care to lay a solid foundation for their future endeavours.

Furthermore, the thematic education approach was elucidated by the academic incharge, highlighting the upcoming activities aligned with the curriculum. The discussion extended to co-scholastic activities, which aim to foster hands-on learning experiences, allowing students to harness their creative abilities while ensuring comprehensive development.

Ms Radifa delved into the crucial topic of counselling, shedding light on the detrimental effects of excessive screen time on children and advocating for quality family time. She cautioned against over-pampering in the guise of love, underscoring its potential hindrance to a child’s development.

In addition, the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) was introduced, showcasing its facilities and accessibility, thereby empowering parents with essential resources to support their children’s learning journey.
