Igniting Imaginations: DPS Srinagar’s Grade 2 Students Shine at Chinar Book Festival
Delhi Public School, Srinagar proudly celebrates the vibrant participation of its Grade 2 students in the Chinar Book Festival 2025—a lively confluence of literature, culture, and learning, organised by the National Book Trust, India, in collaboration with NCPUL. Hosted at the picturesque SKICC, Srinagar, the festival opened on August 2 and drew young readers from across the region. Between August 5 and 7, a total of 290 enthusiastic Grade 2 students from DPS Srinagar immersed themselves in a world of stories, ideas, and imagination, embracing activities that fostered creativity, inclusivity, and a lifelong love for reading.
The three-day experience brimmed with engaging sessions. A highlight was an interactive presentation by Mr. Payush introducing the Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya—a multilingual digital library offering resources in 22 Indian languages and English. The young learners listened intently, explored its features with excitement, and participated wholeheartedly. Two students were recognised with special gift hampers for their outstanding engagement, while every participant proudly received a certificate of appreciation.
Equally memorable was a storytelling session by Grace Paljour, whose heartfelt tale on the theme of contentment encouraged students to cherish life’s simple joys. Her warm, captivating narration inspired reflection and gratitude. Adding to the magic, Seema Wahi’s dynamic puppet storytelling brought alive messages of self-belief, perseverance, and determination through animated characters that kept the young audience spellbound.
Though distinct in style, each session reflected the festival’s spirit—celebrating exploration, diversity, and the harmonious coexistence of traditional and digital reading in today’s literary landscape.
Commending the initiative, Mr. Vijay Dhar, Chairman of DPS Srinagar, said: “Our young readers’ spirited participation at the Chinar Book Festival underscores the transformative power of literature in shaping curious minds. This experience reaffirms our dedication to holistic education
In her congratulatory message, Ms. Shafaq Afshan, Principal of DPS Srinagar, remarked: “Watching our Grade 2 students engage so vibrantly with stories and digital platforms reaffirms the importance of nurturing a passion for reading from an early age—values we hold dear at DPS Srinagar.”
The entire DPS Srinagar family applauds the enthusiasm, creativity, and curiosity shown by its young bibliophiles and looks forward to many more such enriching literary journeys in the years ahead.
