Jodo Gyan Workshop

20-02-16

The workshop on judogyan  held from 8th Feb, 2016 to 12th Feb, 2016 at Judo Gyan Resource Centre, Delhi.

“Life as a teacher begins the day you realize that you are always a learner……”

A Judo Gyan workshop on the primary school mathematics was organized from 08.02.2016 to 12.02.2016 at Jodo Gyan resource centre, Delhi. Several teachers namely Masrat Khan, Adfar Rashid, Tabassum Mustafa from our school went for this workshop. The resource persons were – E.K Shahji, Komal, Pooja, Anita and Sunita. There were approximately 100 teachers from different states of India. The main objective of the workshop was to train teachers how to clear the mathematical concepts practically and to change the abstract mathematical learning into the concrete mathematical learning. They believe in active participation of the learners. They focused on how mathematics could be taught in a fun way method.

The sessions always started by the involvement of all theparticipants in different kinds of activities that will help us to make our students more engaged in learning process. The judogyan activities will help students to retain the concepts for a longer time, as it is all activity based learning. They stressed more upon student centered approach of learning.

The workshop was really beneficial as one can learn a lot how to make mathematical concepts very much clear. It was the workshop of conceptual learning, as they gave the practical understanding of numerals and mathematical concepts. This workshop was based on evidences in which the researchers always try to transform the theories into practice.

This workshop was extremely helpful for the teachers and will definitely help us in framing our lesson plans. What I personally learned from this workshop is that each student should reach a certain level by the time they leave my class as they all possess a wide range of understanding of mathematical concepts. The activities of judogyan will help me to plan my lessons effectively and activity based, so that students can grasp the concepts clearly, as one of the resource person E.K SHAHJI says, make the understanding / comprehension the centre of mathematical learning. He also says, “Everyday we face problems and by understandings we can solve the problems”. The activities of judogyan will help to make the student a logical thinker. The inculcation of the judogyan activities in my lesson plans will boost the learning process as these activities will help to make the students problems solvers. The students will be able to proceed from whole to parts, abstract to concrete. This workshop covers all the maxims of teaching which isthe core of effective learning. It will help me to make my lessons interesting, motivating and the students will take the mathematics as a fun. This will really help me to bring the smile and confidence of solving the mathematical problems among the students with ease. The experience gained shall be executed on the students of the institution in return this will further shine the fame of the institution.

A part from the various activities that I learnt from this workshop can be summed up in these lines, “If you have a positive attitude and constantly strive to give your best effort, eventually you will overcome your immediate problems and find you are ready for greater challenges.”

I would like to thank Ms Sunanda Dhār, Ms Kusum Warikoo, and Ms Shafaq who gave me the opportunity to be the part of the Judogyan workshop especially Saba Banday who always encourages, lends me a helping hand throughout the workshop and also letting me know that working is important but there is something that matters even more i.e. Believing in yourself.
