Delhi Public Srinagar, Students visit to Sunbeam School Lahartara, Varanasi on an Inter State Cultural Exchange Programme
As a part of the Inter-cultural learning 08 students of classes 7 and 8 of Delhi Public School, Srinagar accompanied by one teacher visited Sunbeam School Lahartara , Varanasi from December 23, 2017 to December 29, 2017. The trip had several highlights which are too diverse to be included in a single report. The school welcomed the delegates with open arms; A wide spectrum of activities was planned for the students from classroom learning to outings in and around Varanasi. The insight gleaned were particularly useful in providing insights into teaching processes. From visiting the oldest University, ‘Bharat Mata Mandir’, ‘Banaras Ghats’ and tasting the delicious ‘Malaiyo’, the students were enthralled to have the view of ‘Banaras’. Among various other things witnessed an Arti – a religious ceremony on Assi ghat, weavers weaving world renowned saris, and the statue of Buddha at Sarnath: Buddha is believed to have taught his disciples there.
The students also got an opportunity to share their experiences and folklore of Kashmir on Radio Mirchi Banaras FM. Overall it was an insightful trip, where the students absorbed the different strands of culture, and emerged as better individuals.
As a part of this exchange programme, a group of students Sunbeam School Lahartara , Varanasi will be visiting DPS, Srinagar in the month of April 2016. We at DPS Srinagar are looking forward to host them.
