MD & CEO J&K Bank visits DPS Srinagar, felicitates School CBSE Toppers
A felicitation ceremony was held at DPS Srinagar on 3rd August 2023 to felicitate the students: Madiha Tariq and Fawaz Banday for securing first positions in the recently held CBSE results of Class 12th and 10th for session 2022-23. The Guests of honour on the occasion were the Jammu and Kashmir Bank MD & CEO Baldev Prakash, and Syed Rais Maqbool – General Manager J&K Bank.
On the occasion, MD & CEO was taken on a guided tour along his team to different facilities of DPS including Library, Sports Arena and Learning Research Centre – specially established for educating and equipping specially-abled children – wherein the visitors interacted with the students and the staff.
The MD and CEO felicitated while appreciating the toppers who brought laurels to the School and UT of J&K by their outstanding performance, highlighted the significance of quality education and financial literacy in equal measure. He accentuate the role of J&K Bank in helping establish educational institutions like DPS Srinagar and declared that he felt touched by the vision and the journey that have together shaped this school as one of the inspirational institutions of J&K. “Particularly, I am deeply moved to see that LRC here has become the beacon of hope and light for hundreds of families whose kids with special needs and gifts are being equipped to meet and enabled to overcome the challenges of life with confidence under the guidance of highly-trained and active staff.”
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman DPS Srinagar Vijay Dhar stated that the bond between J&K Bank and DPS Srinagar strengthened over the years is testament to the fact that both the institutions stand united in their commitment to nurturing the future of J&K. He said, “What you see today – the first brick of our Learning Resource Centre, a school for specially abled students, was laid by the patronage and involvement of Jammu & Kashmir Bank. In return, DPS Srinagar has always stood by its pledge for quality education and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.” The Chairman also requested the Bank to conduct a financial literacy program to instill financial planning and discipline in students.
Principal Shafaq Afshan extended a formal vote of thanks to the guests and spoke tellingly of the role such occasions play in inspiring and motivating legacies of excellence. “Our outstanding results in the board exams”, she concluded, “are a testament to the diligence and dedication of our teachers who put in such labour to make our students excel. Such visits not only recognize this legacy but also inspire students to excel further especially when such esteemed guests do the honours.”
