Folk Flares: A vibrant celebration of India’s Cultural Heritage
The Annual Day celebration at Delhi Public School, Srinagar, themed “Folk Flares,” was a vibrant display of India’s diverse cultural heritage, beautifully brought to life by our talented Lower Kindergarten (LKG) students. The event aimed to instill in our young learners a deep appreciation for the country’s rich cultural traditions through performances inspired by the folk customs of various regions of India.
The students captivated the audience with their graceful and energetic performances. The children transported everyone to Kashmir with their rendition of the serene Rouff, while the rhythmic beats of Ladakhi Jabro mesmerized with traditional costumes and choreography. The lively Lavni from Maharashtra showcased elegance and energy, followed by the joyful Punjabi Gidda, highlighting the festive spirit of Punjab. The Goan Konkani Folk Dance added a spirited tribute to Goa’s coastal traditions with lively steps and music.
Other memorable performances included a high-energy Punjabi Bhangra, which captivated the audience with dynamic movements and colourful costumes, and the graceful Rajasthani Ghoomar, which left everyone in awe with its elegant swirling motions. The rhythmic Dandiya from Gujarat filled the stage with vibrant colours and joy, while a heartfelt tribute to Bengali culture featured a depiction of traditional wedding customs, showcasing the children’s understanding of cultural significance.
The enthusiasm and energy of our LKG students were contagious, captivating the audience with their performances. This event’s success is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students, teachers, and parents.
The Principal Ms. Shafaq Afshan extended her heartfelt thanks to parents for their continuous support, she lauded the teachers and the entire school community for their unwavering support in making this Annual Day celebration a remarkable success.
