DPS Srinagar Shines in 3rd Cannon CE Under-19 Boys Football Tournament, Siyam Ishtiyaq Wins Golden Boot
The 3rd Cannon CE Under-19 Boys Football Tournament was held at Tyndale Biscoe School, Srinagar, from October 22 to October 27, 2024. Eighteen schools participated in this exciting event, showcasing young talent from across the region.
DPS Srinagar kicked off their campaign with an impressive performance against Foundation World School, winning the match decisively with a score of 4-1. Their momentum continued in the second match against Life School, where they secured another victory, this time 5-1.
Advancing to the semifinals, DPS Srinagar faced Saint Joseph School, Baramulla, and triumphed again, winning 4-1. Throughout the tournament, Siyam Ishtiyaq, the captain of DPS Srinagar, was consistently recognized for his exceptional play, being awarded the Player of the Match in each of these encounters.
On October 27, DPS Srinagar reached the finals, where they faced the host school, Tyndale Biscoe. In a closely contested match, DPS Srinagar unfortunately lost 2-1. Despite the defeat, the team demonstrated remarkable skill and resilience, earning respect from both fans and opponents.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions throughout the tournament, Siyam Ishtiyaq was awarded the Golden Boot for being the top scorer. His leadership and performance were pivotal in driving the team’s success.
