Spreading Warmth and Compassion: DPS Srinagar Students Visit Leper Colony
On 3rd December 2024, a group of students from Delhi Public School, Srinagar, visited leper colony at Lalbazaar to distribute the basic necessities like food items, blankets and warm clothes to almost 61 families. The primary objective of this visit was to provide assistance and bring some joy to the lives of the residents of that colony. The student council actively participated in the distribution of food packages. Each family head received their share of essential food items. The residents shared their past experiences, offering insights into their struggles and the resilience they have developed over time. Some of the students visited individual families within the colony, where they gifted toys to the children. This small act of kindness brought immense joy to the younger members of the community.
It was remarkable to see, that despite their challenges, the bond that they share has instilled the spirit of togetherness amongst them.
The visit was a meaningful experience for both the students as well as the residents of the leper colony. The photographs taken during the visit captured the essence of this memorable day, preserving the joy and connections made with the residents. It was a significant step towards inculcating values of service and compassion in our students while contributing to the well-being of this community.
