School hosts Investiture Ceremony to welcome New Student Council
On 7th April 2025, Delhi Public School, Srinagar, held its breath in solemn anticipation as the school witnessed the Investiture Ceremony of the newly elected Student Council. The event was a blend of tradition and responsibility, curated to honour the spirit of leadership among students.
The ceremony began with a prayer and a warm welcome by the Principal, Ms. Shafaq Afshan, followed by encouraging words from Mr. Vijay Dhar. Their reflections set the tone for the proceedings, which celebrated both continuity and change. The introduction and felicitation of the House Masters and Prefects was followed by the ceremonial passing of duties from the previous year’s House Captains to their successors—an act that symbolised the transition of student leadership.
Azaan Ellahi’s address offered reflections on responsibility and camaraderie, while the felicitation of various teams, including the Disciplinary, Social Initiative, and Cultural wings, added moments of vibrance. Each team was honoured by those who held the positions before them, creating a bridge between the past and present. Speeches by outgoing leaders like Azwa Wani and Ayza Noor added emotion and gratitude to the moment. The presence of the council members’ parents added a sense of pride and warmth to the occasion, as they witnessed their children step into roles of responsibility.
The highlights of the ceremony were the investiture of the Head Boy (Shehjaar Shafi), Head Girl (Kalima Iqbal), and Vice Head Girl (Fatima Andrabi), each welcomed by their predecessors. The newly formed council took their oath, led by Ms. Shafaq Afshan, promising to serve with dedication, honesty, and heart. This was followed by thoughtful addresses from Shehjaar Shafi and Kalima Iqbal, who reminded everyone that leadership is not a title but a daily act of service.
The ceremony concluded with a final note from Ms. Arusa, tying together the values of trust, unity, and hope. The Investiture Ceremony was not just a formal event, it was a celebration of duty and a shared commitment to carry the school’s legacy forward with purpose.
