Delhi Public School, Srinagar celebrated National Sports Day on 29th August with great enthusiasm and spirit. The day was observed to pay tribute to the legendary hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand, whose birth anniversary is marked as National Sports Day across the country.

The programme began with a brief introduction about the significance of the day, where students were informed that National Sports Day is celebrated every year on 29th August to honor Major Dhyan Chand, the “Magician of Hockey,” who brought glory to India by winning three Olympic gold medals in 1928, 1932, and 1936. His remarkable contribution to Indian hockey has made him a national icon, and the day serves as an inspiration for the younger generation to embrace sports and fitness in their lives.

On this occasion, a series of sports activities were organized within the school campus. Students from different classes participated with great zeal. The atmosphere was filled with energy as young athletes showcased their talent and sportsmanship. Teachers also highlighted the importance of physical fitness and encouraged students to adopt sports as an integral part of their daily routine.
