DPS Srinagar Student Wins Gold at Wushu Championship

Delhi Public School Srinagar is delighted to announce a significant milestone in the school’s sporting legacy. Mehran Zerger, an exemplary student of Class VII and a recipient of the prestigious D.P. Dhar Sports Scholarship, has emerged victorious at the 19th UT J&K Wushu Championship 2026.

Clinching the Gold Medal at the tournament held in Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, Mehran’s victory is a testament to his rising prowess in the martial arts.

The championship was a grand assembly of talent, featuring a competitive field of over 1,200 athletes representing 25 teams from across the region. To secure a gold medal in such a vast and talented pool is a commendable feat that speaks volumes of Mehran’s technical skill and mental fortitude.

The valedictory ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Shri Satish Sharma, who commended the spirit and dedication of the young participants.

Congratulating the young champion, Principal Ms. Shafaq Afshan stated “Mehran is an inspiration to his peers and his discipline is a source of great pride for the school.” Chairman Mr. Vijay Dhar added “This success validates our vision for the scholarship program and we are proud of the promise he shows.”
