Little Hands, Greener Dreams: Grade I Plantation Drive at DPS Srinagar
Delhi Public School, Srinagar, organised a meaningful Plantation Drive for the students of Grade I on Monday, April 28, 2026, at the School Farm House, with the aim of nurturing environmental awareness among young learners. The activity was designed to help children understand the importance of plants and inspire in them a sense of responsibility towards nature and the environment.
As part of the preparation for the visit, an educational video was shown to the students a day earlier. The video introduced them to the significance of trees and the basic steps involved in planting. This not only familiarised them with the process but also filled them with curiosity and excitement for the hands-on experience awaiting them at the farm.
The students left for the School Farm House at 9:30 a.m., accompanied by their teachers. On reaching the farm, each child planted a Knol Khol sapling under the careful guidance of the farm staff. The young learners participated enthusiastically, listening attentively to instructions and planting their saplings with visible joy and care. The activity helped them see, feel, and experience what they had earlier learned in the classroom.
Apart from the plantation activity, the students also enjoyed their lunch together and spent cheerful moments playing in the natural surroundings of the farm. The visit proved to be both enjoyable and educational, offering the children a refreshing opportunity to learn beyond the classroom.
Through this initiative, the students gained a simple yet valuable understanding of the planting process, the role of plants in protecting the environment, and the need to care for nature. The Plantation Drive left them with a memorable lesson—that even small hands can contribute to a greener and healthier world.
