
A Grand Ode to India’s Heritage, Diversity and Unity
Delhi Public School, Srinagar, celebrated the Annual Day of Classes VII and VIII on the evening of 30th May 2026 with grandeur, discipline and enthusiasm. Centred on the theme “India – A Tapestry of Cultures,” the programme offered a vibrant celebration of the nation’s cultural, spiritual and civilisational richness.
The evening opened with a soulful prayer, followed by a melodious song that beautifully reflected India’s diversity and shared heritage. The performances that followed brought alive many dimensions of India’s legacy, beginning with a graceful presentation of Yoga and a powerful Shiv Tandav. Students also highlighted India’s contributions to the world, including chess, Ayurveda and other civilisational gifts.
Through segments such as “Incredible India,” “Farmers to Fields,” and “Tapestry of Courage,” the students presented moving portrayals of India’s modern journey, its farmers and soldiers, and the inspiring evolution of women in Indian history. “Raag-e-Bharat” celebrated the country’s dance traditions, while “Forgotten Joy of India” and “Eternal Balance” reflected themes of unity, teamwork, karma, spiritual values and technological progress.
The celebration continued with “Khel Mahotsav,” which showcased India’s sporting legacy, followed by a cultural fashion show representing the diverse states of India. A soulful Qawwali further enriched the evening with the spirit of Sufi harmony and spiritual unity.
The grand finale, a majestic instrumental performance, brought the programme to a memorable close. The event concluded with a gracious vote of thanks by the Principal, Ms. Shafaq Afshan who appreciated the collective efforts of the students, teachers and mentors.
The Annual Day was a heartfelt celebration of India’s enduring legacy. Through music, dance, theatre and expression, the students wove together a beautiful portrait of diversity, resilience and unity, leaving the audience with memories of an evening marked by elegance, emotion and pride.
