A Journey into Harmony: Grade 1 students Explored Srinagar’s Sacred Spaces
As part of Delhi Public School’s theme-based curriculum, our young learners from Grade 1 embarked on a captivating educational visit to various places of worship in Srinagar on 15th April 2025. The aim was to foster an appreciation of religious diversity and promote mutual respect for different traditions and beliefs.
The journey began at the Catholic Church on M.A. Road, where the students were awed by the serene ambiance and stunning architectural details, such as the high ceilings and intricate interiors. This visit offered them an introduction to Christianity and its practices.
Next, the children were warmly welcomed at Gurudwara Chatti Padshahi in Rainawari. They were enriched by the historical narrative of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji’s visit and his meeting with Mata Bhag Bhari Ji. The students gained insights into Sikhism’s traditions and values.
The exploration continued to the Dargah Hazratbal, a revered Muslim shrine situated by the picturesque Dal Lake. The group admired the shrine’s pristine white structure and observed prayers being offered, learning about the essence of devotion and prayer in Islam.
The final destination was the Zeastha Devi Temple on Gupkar Road. Amidst lush greenery and the soothing chime of temple bells, the children witnessed Hindu rituals and offerings, which left them spellbound by the beauty of devotion.
The day concluded with a deep sense of joy, curiosity, and newfound understanding. This immersive experience not only broadened the students’ cultural horizons but also underscored the importance of unity in diversity—a core value we strive to instill in our young minds.
