Delhi Public School Srinagar Junior Boys’ Cricket Team has secured the Runner-Up trophy in the competitive JKCA Invitational Tournament. The eight-team event, featuring seven top schools alongside the JKCA Academy squad, provided exceptional competitive experience for emerging players.

The DPS squad demonstrated remarkable consistency throughout the tournament, securing victories against Burn Hall (7 runs), Foundation School (28 runs), Green Valley School (6 wickets), and Doon International School in a gripping semi-final (8 runs). Their campaign culminated in a hard-fought final against JKCA Leopards, where DPS posted a valiant 148/8 before the opposition secured victory with 7 wickets in hand.

Young spinner Aazam Aasif emerged as the tournament’s breakout star, claiming 13 wickets across matches. His exceptional performance earned him dual honours: ‘Promising Player of the Tournament’ and ‘Emerging Player of the Tournament’ during the awards ceremony. Teammate Ruhaan also delivered critical match-winning contributions.

Mr. Vijay Dhar, Chairman of DPS Srinagar, lauded the achievement: “Our journey to the finals is a true example of resilience and teamwork. Securing the runners-up position and Aazam’s individual award for ‘Promising Player’ not only brings honour to our school but also reflects the high standards of sportsmanship and talent we nurture. We are extremely proud of the boys.”

Principal Ms. Shafaq Afshan added: “The team’s performance highlights the values of discipline and fighting spirit that we strive to cultivate in our students. Their success is a moment of great pride, and we celebrate their achievement and eagerly anticipate their future victories.”

The DPS Srinagar community extends heartfelt congratulations to the team on their runner-up finish and celebrates Aazam Aasif’s extraordinary individual achievements.
