Celebrating Unity and Excellence: School’s Inaugural House Cup Inspires School Spirit and Achievement
The first-ever House Cup at Delhi Public School Srinagar was held on November 9, 2024, marking a monumental day filled with anticipation, celebration, and the spirit of competition. The event began with a solemn prayer, setting a reflective tone for the day, followed by the thought of the day from Azan Ellahi,the house captain of Chinar.After the thought of the day,motivational and insightful speeches were delivered by the Chairman, Mr. Vijay Dhar, and the Head Boy, Khalid Khursheed Muzaffar. They impressed upon the significance and importance of the house cup.Their words inspired the students and reminded everyone of the values of unity, inclusion, and discipline.
Following these speeches, the individual winners, runners-up, and second runners-up of the inter-house competitions in Carrom, Chess, Table Tennis, Badminton, Wushu, and Thang-Ta were felicitated by the Principal, Chairman, and Ms. Kiran Dhar. The felicitation not only recognized the achievements of the students but also underscored the dedication required to excel in these activities.
The proceedings continued with insightful speeches from Tabeen, the Sports Captain, and Azwa, the Cultural Head. Their addresses highlighted the significance of both sports and cultural activities in building a well-rounded student body. After their speeches, the winners of the inter-house Debate, Quiz, Painting, and Basketball competitions were honored for their outstanding performances.
Ayza Noor, Sports Captain, and Aynoor, Cultural Head, then took the stage to share their experiences and reflect on the positive impact of inter-house competitions on personal growth and camaraderie among students. Following this, the exceptional athletes in Cricket and Football competitions were recognized for their contributions and achievements.
Head Girl Areen Afaq Ashai then delivered a heartfelt speech, showcasing her learning’s from throughout her school life. This was followed by the recognition of students who excelled in Athletics, highlighting the diverse range of skills present in each house.
The efforts of the Student Council were also acknowledged, as each member was awarded a certificate of appreciation for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. Additionally, volunteers for TechKnow, the school’s annual tech event, were honored with certificates, recognizing their significant contributions.
Finally, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived. Ms. Shafaq Afshan announced the results of the House Cup, with Mr. Vijay Dhar presenting the coveted golden trophy to the winning house. Oak House emerged victorious, scoring an impressive 2300 points, followed closely by Deodar House with 2180 points, Chinar House with 2110 points, and Maple House with 1800 points.
