A Choir from DPS Srinagar performed at the famed Tulip Garden in Srinagar on the 22nd of April, 2024 under the auspices of SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) to generate awareness among the people regarding their democratic right to vote. The event attracted a diverse audience, including local residents, students, and visitors to the garden, creating a lively atmosphere with a focus on civic responsibility and community engagement.

A key highlight of the program was the musical performances by the Delhi Public School (DPS) Choir. The students from DPS delivered an exceptional performance, which included both instrumental and vocal pieces, contributing to the event’s overall success. The instrumental performance featured a traditional Indian raga, Bhairavi, played with remarkable skill and harmony.

The melodious tunes captivated the audience, offering a serene and uplifting ambiance in the midst of the vibrant tulip blossoms. Following the instrumental segment, the DPS Choir presented a vocal performance of “Walo Ha Baagwano Nowbaharuk,” a popular Kashmiri song that celebrates the beauty of gardens in full bloom. The melodic voices of the choir, accompanied by light musical instrumentation, resonated across the garden, earning applause and appreciation from the attendees. The performances by the DPS Choir were met with enthusiasm and admiration, reflecting the dedication and talent of the students involved. These musical pieces not only entertained but also reinforced the theme of the event—encouraging citizens to take part in the democratic process and exercise their right to vote.

Commenting on the performance, the Principal Shafaq Afshan said, “At DPS Srinagar, our sole commitment is to transform students into holistic citizens. The Choir and its performance are a manifestation of our commitment to press students into service of society, and preserve the values that are dear to our survival as a democratic space.”
