DPS Srinagar organizes Career Counseling Session with Ashoka University
On Thursday August 10th, DPS Srinagar organized a comprehensive career counseling session for its students in collaboration with the Ashoka University, a leading Liberal Arts and Sciences University. The primary objective of this session was to provide students of 11th and 12th class with insights into the diverse academic programs offered by Ashoka University, its admission process, and the various career paths that students could pursue upon graduating from the university. The event aimed to empower students with information to make informed decisions about their higher education and future careers.
The career counseling session was a half-day event held at DPS Srinagar’s senior auditorium. The session was conducted by a team of experienced representative from Ashoka University, Ms. Heena Jethanandani. She is the Assistant Director – Under Graduate Outreach at Ashoka University. The session was divided into various segments, each focusing on different aspects of Ashoka University’s offerings.
The session commenced with a warm welcome by the organizers, followed by an introduction to Ashoka University’s vision, mission, and values. This segment aimed to familiarize the students with the university’s unique interdisciplinary approach to education and its commitment to providing a well-rounded learning experience.
The representative from Ashoka University provided an in-depth overview of the various academic programs offered by the university. She highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of the courses, the flexibility in designing one’s own major, and the emphasis on critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The presentation included details about undergraduate and postgraduate programs, majors, and minors available.
Next she discussed the admissions process, including information about eligibility criteria, application procedures, important dates, and the selection process. The representative covered the significance of holistic evaluation, which goes beyond standardized test scores and includes essays, recommendations, and personal interviews.
The session also touched upon the availability of scholarships and financial aid for students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to contributing to society. Heena explained the various scholarship options and the application process for obtaining financial assistance.
She also shared the success stories of Alumni and career trajectories who had graduated from Ashoka University. She discussed how their experiences at the university had prepared them for various professional challenges and opportunities. Their stories provided valuable insights into the real-world applications of the education offered at Ashoka University.
The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students had the opportunity to ask specific questions related to courses, admissions, campus life, and career prospects. Heena provided detailed responses, addressing the concerns and queries raised by the students.
