From International Podiums to Raj Bhawan: DPS Srinagar Athletes Commended
In a moment of immense pride for our institution, twenty outstanding athletes from Delhi Public School Srinagar were felicitated by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, at a special ceremony held at the Raj Bhawan. The felicitation recognised the students’ exceptional achievements in both national and international sporting arenas.
The school delegation, which arrived at the Raj Bhawan at 10:30 AM, was led by Vice-Principal Ms. Monisa Khursheed and the school’s Sports Secretary, Mr. Mudasir Bashir.
A highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of three of our standout martial artists who brought laurels to the nation at the international level. Demonstrating remarkable skill and tenacity against Asia’s finest competitors, Hurriyah Showkat (Class 11), Samma (Class 11), and Mysha Bilal Kanth (Class 10) were personally honoured by the Governor for ascending the podium and claiming coveted silver medals.
The Governor also felicitated the victorious DPS Srinagar Boys’ Football Team, who were recently crowned champions of the Inter-DPS Football Tournament (Boys Open, Zone 1). Our team emerged victorious from a highly competitive field of 16 schools at the tournament hosted by DPS Mohali on October 12th and 13th, 2025.
In addition to the team’s success, individual excellence was also celebrated. Zaid Ali of Class 12 received commendation for his distinguished representation in the 69th National School Games (Football), marking a significant personal achievement.
During the interaction, the Hon’ble Governor personally commended the students for their remarkable dedication and high standards of performance. He praised them for bringing laurels to the nation and the region and highlighting them as powerful role models for the youth of Jammu & Kashmir.

This prestigious recognition from the highest office is a testament to the school’s ethos, which balances rigorous academics with world-class co-curricular opportunities.
