Hindi language fest celebrated in school
The School organised a language fest (Hindi) from 3rd August 2018 to 10th August’ 2018 to keep the spirit of multilingualism alive. The theme of the language fest was “Bharat Janani Ek Hridey Ho Ek Rashtra Basha Hindi Hai’.
Students from classes 3rd to 10th participated with great enthusiasm in the festival. They prepared charts and banners on the works of famous writers like Prem Chand, Prehlad A garwal and Nida Fazili and poets like Harivansh Rai Bachan, Mahadevi Berma, Methlisharl Gupt. Notable performances included Role plays, recitals of original poems on issues like corruption, recital of works of famous poets like Rahim and Kabir that form an integral part of our literary and cultural milieu.
The festival was graced by Professor Zohra Afzal, Professor Department of Hindi, University of Kashmir. She inaugurated the proceedings by lighting a lamp as is the etiquette; moreover a traditional Isbandh soz ceremony was also performed. The Chief Guest greatly appreciated the performances and the commitment of the school towards a pluralistic culture. She reminded the audience that ‘Hindi’ is not the language of a specific religion or region, but rather a rich cultural artefact that embraces all cultures and differences within itself. The day culminated with a vote of thanks delivered by the vice principal Ms Shafaq Afshaan.
