Kashmir’s first ever DPSMUN conference organized by DPS Srinagar
The inaugural DPS Model United Nations (DPSMUN 2023) organized at DPS Srinagar marked a significant milestone in the journey of academic and extracurricular excellence in the Kashmir Valley. From October 27th to October 29th, 2023, students from various schools across the valley gathered for a three-day intellectual extravaganza, fostering diplomacy, debate, and the spirit of collaboration. The event’s significance was further highlighted by the presence of the distinguished Chief Guest, Dr. Sehrish Asgar (IAS), Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla.
Dr. Sehrish Asgar’s address inspired and motivated the participants, emphasizing the importance of youth engagement in global affairs and the role of diplomacy in shaping a better world. Her experiences and insights resonated with the attendees, making the event even more memorable.
The event saw the active participation of about 200 students from diverse educational institutions such as Green Valley Edu. Institute, Dolphin School Pulwama, DPS Budgam, Hilltop Edu. Institute, Mallinson Girls and Tyndale Biscoe School, Kashmir Harvard School etc. showcasing the inclusive nature of the Model United Nations. This diversity not only added richness to the debates but also allowed participants to interact with peers from various backgrounds.
The heart of any MUN is the simulation of global affairs through dynamic debates and discussions. The committees at the DPS MUN covered a wide array of contemporary and historical issues, fostering critical thinking and a deeper understanding of global politics. Students represented various countries and organizations, each with its own unique perspective and strategies, contributing to vibrant and insightful discussions.
The DPS MUN culminated with an award ceremony to recognize outstanding participants and delegates. Awards were presented to those who demonstrated exceptional diplomacy, research, public speaking, and negotiation skills. These accolades encouraged and celebrated the efforts of the delegates.

I am confident that the experience gained from the First DPS MUN 2023 will have a lasting impact on the personal and academic development of all those who participated.”
