Road Safety workshop by KRSF held at DPS Srinagar

A workshop on Road Safety was held in DPS., Srinagar on 1st Nov,2017 by an Organization, Kashmir Road Safety Foundation(KRSF) with the aim of establishing a road safety club in the school. Under the UN decade of ACTION FOR ROAD SAFETY 2011-2020, KRSF has taken various initiatives in which road safety education campaign is the priority campaign. KRSF is also a member of District Road Safety Committee, Srinagar.

Nasir Ali delivered a detailed power point presentation highlighting the work  done by the organization to support this endeavor. According to KRSF team, following stake- holders are involved:

Traffic Department
Motor  Vehicle department
R&B
Health
Transport Deptt.
SMC
Education sector and the public at large.

SSP Traffic, Mr.Tahir Saleem and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Mr.Mufti Faridudin were also present at the occasion. Both of them shared their views on having civic sense and follow safety measures on roads. They also pledged to take the message forward and make this state a safer place.

Thereafter a short movie was also shown to reiterate the point that number of road accidents has increased manifold owing to poor safety measures. According to the estimates,in the last 4 years,3667 people have died in road accidents across J&K.

The Principal, Mr.BS Murali also delivered a speech wherein he urged the youngsters to follow the rules,drive safely,take care at every step to reduce accidents and to drive at proper age with proper driving license.

KRSF intends to organize a campaign called ‘HOPE’ in Delhi Public School, Srinagar with an aim to educate our youth and other road users about the safe use of roads and also attempt to save lives.

‘30’ students will be registered by the club who will be subsequently trained by the experts from Directorate health, Transport commission J&K, Motor vehicle department and SSP Traffic, Srinagar City

Once these clubs are established ,the students will pool their time and resources to lend a hand to KRSF in making this state free of mishaps on the roads.
