Rooting for the Future: Grade 2 Students Lead Plantation Drive at DPS Srinagar
Delhi Public School Srinagar organised a comprehensive Plantation Drive for Grade 2 students on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the School Farm House. This initiative was meticulously designed to cultivate environmental stewardship and a deep-rooted appreciation for the natural world through direct experiential learning. By moving the classroom into the field, the school aimed to instil a sense of responsibility in the young learners, encouraging them to become active participants in nature conservation.
The project followed a multi-staged educational framework to ensure maximum engagement and understanding. The preparation began a day prior with the distribution of curated digital resources via Google Classroom and the Campus App. This was followed by a focused multimedia presentation on the morning of the event, which detailed the ecological significance of trees and the precise methodology of planting. This blended learning approach ensured that when the students arrived at the farm at 9:30 AM, they possessed a clear conceptual understanding of the task at hand.
Under the expert guidance of the school’s agricultural staff, each student performed the tactile task of planting a Kohlrabi sapling. This hands-on engagement allowed students to apply proper horticultural techniques, transforming theoretical knowledge into practical skill. The experience was further enriched by a guided farm walk, during which the students observed various seasonal crops. This interactive tour served as an open-air laboratory, prompting a flurry of curious inquiries and helping students visualise the life cycles of the food they consume.
