School conducts educational trip to khampora mughal sarai

25-04-19

The Social Science faculty organized an educational trip for class VII students to Khampora Mughal Sarai on 25.04.19. The Sarai is located at a distance of 20kms from Srinagar, in district Budgam. Children left the School at about 11:00 a.m. and it took about an hour to reach there. The curved hilly roads, through fascinating almond orchards, believed to be the old Mughal Road, led to Khampora village. Children took a round of the sarai and were overwhelmed by its fascinating look, though now in ruins. The faculty detailed the students about the place as the possession of the Mughal heritage has made the village a destination for visitors. The monument is approximately FIVE centuries old which gives the glimpse of the remarkable glorious past. Children could see the art and heritage with the architectural designs from small bricks and clay. This heritage monument comprises of approximately EIGHT hectares of land holds, a small mosque in its lap approximately 575 years old built by well-known Mughal Governor, Ali Mardan Khan.

Further, the children were also detailed that the sarai, at present, is under the supervision of Archaeological Survey of India. Children were provided with worksheets which carried the details of the spot along with follow-up questions which were completed by them at School. Before coming back to School children paid a visit to the Gurudwara which has made this place more famous. Overall, it was a memorable trip. We look forward for more such Educational trips in future.
