School participates in Military History Seminar at Dehradun

Eight students and two teachers of Delhi Public School, Srinagar participated in the Military History Seminar organised by Welham Boys School, Dehradun on 6th and 7th October, 2018. The programme is an initiative taken up by Welhams since 2017, to glorify the bravery of Indian military personnel and make young children aware and able to appreciate the service they render to nation. The seminar was attended students from 38 schools across the country. Several ex-military personnel presented their view points and experiences to the youthful audience.

The seminar was inaugurated by Air Marshal, Philip Rajkumar who shared his experiences with the young minds.

Mr. KVK Murthy deliberated on the talk entitled “A Talk Beyond Siachen” wherein he shared experiences of his travels to Sinkiang and their cultural extravaganza.

Lieutenant General Loomba presided as the judge of Aap ki Adalat where in Commander Ashok Dewan and Vice Admiral Koppikar took the witness box to answer all queries about Missile Boat Attack on Karachi and Gwadar.

Moreover, Commander Anupama Joshi, Commander Namrita Chandi, Major Vandana Sharma and Major Sunita Yadav conducted a panel discussion on “Women in Armed  Forces”, the challenges and opportunities.

In the “Big Fight”, Lieutenant General Sanjiv Langer discussed about India’s security perspective with reference to India China relationship.

Finally, Lieutenant General Syed Ata Husnain delivered an insightful and memorable talk on Kashmir. He admitted the fact that while focusing more on tackling down armed militants, the nation has distanced away from the hearts of the people which needs immediate and effective measures.

The closing ceremony was addressed by Lieutenant General PC Bardwaj, special operation forces and the Vice Chairman of Welham Boys School.

The seminar was quite informative and inspiring for the students and teachers who participated in it.
