Tiny Tots organizes plantation drive

21-03-18

‘Tiny Tots’ department has been celebrating Plantation Week from 21st March to 26th March 2017. The purpose of the plantation week celebration is to generate awareness amongst the students to grow more trees to repair and nurture the environment.

A plantation drive was held, therefore, as a part of the celebrations. The drive began with a visit by Class 1 and Class 2 to a nearby farm. In the true spirit of the event, the students participated with zeal and enthusiasm in the drive to spread the message of afforestation.

The visit was an event that supplied fun and learning for the kids in equal measure. Students planted various types of saplings including cauliflower, knoll kohl (kadam), cabbage etc. Teachers had already explained to the students about the trees and the importance of tree plantation. The assisting staff at the farm taught the students how to plant the saplings and water the plants. The helpers supplied the students interesting snippets on the uses and properties of trees. The students also took a stroll around the farm and observed various trees like apple tree, almond tree and the pear tree.

The visit was a great success, as it effectively supplemented class room teaching with first hand experience besides providing fun.
